XEMICS recently held a two-day seminar in St. Louis, USA for design
engineers and project managers. The XE1202 Transceiver Division and Program
Managers from Neuchâtel delivered the course. Attending engineers are engaged in
XE1202-based projects with applications ranging from vending-machine automation
to audience participation registration for television shows. Nearly all
customers had reached or were close to reaching the final stages before entering
volume production, and most questions were directed towards ensuring that their
products would enter production smoothly during the final quarter of this year.
FAEs from XEMICS USA were also on hand to solve application issues and provide
advice on component choice and the route to achieving FCC compliance. The course
was well attended, with over thirty customers flying in from all parts of the
U.S.
The seminar was split into two parts: a one-day in-depth description of the XE1202 RF Transceiver and design-in tools supporting the device followed by a second day 'clinic'. Customers who had brought their own hardware to the seminar could obtain expert advice on possible pitfalls and problem solving tailored to their specific applications during the second day.
In order to facilitate the seminar and ensure participants gained the maximum exposure to practical issues, XEMICS USA benefited from the loan of equipment Agilent in St. Louis and Advanced Concepts Manufacturing who each lent a set of equipment for the seminar.
Feedback from the participants after the course was very
encouraging! Nearly everyone expressed the opinion that attendance had saved
them one or more design iterations, and a repeat event is planned for February
2003 to coincide with the Portable Wireless Show in San Jose with a similar
format.
