The XE1218a's Highly integrated architecture minimizes need for external parts, further reducing costs for OEMs.
Now that ''hands free'' mobile phone use in cars is a legal requirement in many countries, wireless headsets can comfortably provide the complete freedom of movement needed for driving. The XEMICS XE1218a has been designed specifically for this application, in particular it is power efficient and compact enough to be housed in a light, small comfortable earpiece. Having highly integrated architecture the XE1218a requires a minimum of external parts, reducing costs for OEMs further.
XEMICS' XE1218a is a complete system-on-chip (SoC) solution, optimized for use in a small uni-directional wireless headset. The XE1218a has ultra low power consumption; typically 2.5mA, ensuring prolonged product battery life (the XE1218a can be operated directly from one lithium 1.5V battery cell). Complete reference license free designs supplied by XEMICS enable a fast time to market. The XE1218a is readily available, and a wireless headset demonstrator measuring just 2cm by 2cm will be available in March.
The XE1218a enables single chip, complete audio transmission
solutions, where the antenna feeds the incoming RF signal directly into the
XE1218a and an amplified audio signal can be fed to an earphone from its output.
The XE1218a is a single channel receiver tuneable from 130MHz to 230MHz, has
high reception sensitivity: -100dBm and a SNR 40dB.
