XEMICS announces today that it has received a 7.8M Swiss francs investment
(about 5.7M USD at current exchange rate) from five new shareholders who now
held 44% of the total shares, the other 56% remaining with CSEM - Centre Suisse
d'Electronique de et Microtechnique SA in Switzerland. The company was
established 15 months ago as a spin-off from CSEM. In the field of
microelectronics, XEMICS specializes in ultra low-power integrated circuits for
European and US industry leaders such as Phonak in Switzerland, Schlumberger
Industries in France, Endress&Hauser in Germany and Allen-Bradley/Rockwell
Automation in USA.
Thomas Hinderling, XEMICS' Chairman of the Board and CEO of CSEM said ''this news gives me great pleasure and justifies the strategic decisions we have made. In addition, this capital increase with new shareholders correspond to our initial objectives set out when the company was created. In the short term, CSEM will keep no more than a minority share holding in XEMICS.''
''With this capital increase
XEMICS can continue to implement its growth strategy'' said Roland Heer, CEO of
XEMICS. ''This is a first step and we are already anticipating a second round of
financing at the end of 1999 or the beginning of the year 2000''. To sustain a
targeted 25% growth this year the company has several positions open for senior
IC design engineers as well as marketing & sales opportunities.
