  XEMICS appoints new Chairman of the Board of Director

Neuchatel, Switzerland, 15th August, 2000 - XEMICS SA, a leader in ultra low power integrated circuits, has today appointed Michel Desbard as its new Chairman of the Board. Michel Desbard succeeds Thomas Hinderling who has been XEMICS' chairman since its foundation in 1997.

Michel Desbard brings more than 20 years of international semiconductor business experience to XEMICS: He was Chairman and CEO of T.sqware Inc, a leading provider of network processors in Santa Clara CA, which he founded in early 1997. Recently GlobeSpan, Inc acquired T.sqware. Prior to T.sqware, Michel Desbard was Chairman and CEO of Matra Semiconductor, a French subsidiary of the Temic group for six years and its COO for 5 years. Prior to that, Michel Desbard was Financial Controller at a Fairchild division in San Jose CA for two years, Director of Finance at Thomson Semiconductor in France for five years and Financial Auditor at Thomon's headquarters for five years.

''Michel has successfully built semiconductor companies in Europe and in the US. He brings invaluable business experience and a broad international semiconductor industry network to XEMICS,'' says Roland Heer, CEO of XEMICS. ''We are absolutely thrilled to have him join our board as Chairman''.

XEMICS' shareholders have expressed their thanks to Thomas Hinderling, CEO of CSEM SA, in recognition of his outstanding and unparalleled commitment to XEMICS' development and success. Thomas Hinderling has been the driving force behind the foundation of XEMICS and its first Chairman for almost three years. He will remain a member of the board of directors.
